As an Indie author it is a daily struggle to find purchase in a sea of big names and even bigger marketing budgets. What you gain in control and creative freedom, you lose in visibility and (sadly, and unjustly) credibility. This is why the BooksOffice pilot project is so important. For the industry to recognise the worthy talent in amongst the Indie author community is a huge step towards validating the collective, creative efforts of every single writer who decided to take the long, hard path of independent publishing.

This project is designed to find those hidden gems and give them a chance to shine. I had the surprising honour of The Hollows being personally selected by one of the project’s founders. I cannot tell you what a boost to my self-esteem that was! Opportunities like this one come around once in a blue moon, and I wasted no time at all in agreeing to take part. The one thing that surviving breast cancer has taught me is to make the most of every extra second I have been granted on this earth.

How many times have you read a book and thought to yourself ‘this would make a cracking TV series!’ and you wish you could pitch it directly to the studios and producers? Well, now you have the opportunity to do exactly that.

Once you have registered for your free reader account, you’ll be allocated 5 VOTING TICKETS which you can use to vote for my book (hopefully) from May 15th. Voting ends a month later on June 15th (a day before my 50th birthday!) Here’s where it gets seriously exciting! Once the vote closes and they’re counted, the top ten books go through to a pilot TV show (being filmed in September) where each author pitches their book to a panel of actors and producers. Think X-factor/Dragon’s Den but for Indie authors! The winner has their book adapted for screen and optioned for TV!

I need your votes. The Hollows needs your votes. YOU have the power to make this happen with just five minutes of your time to register. Once you have your reader account and your five tickets, you can then directly invite as many of your friends to join you as you like. If any of them register using the BooksOffice invites you have sent, you are awarded 5 MORE TICKETS. Imagine how may tickets you could accrue, and how many votes you could shower upon my little book (for which the book gods, and me, would be eternally grateful).
