Hi there! I'm here to introduce my incredible son, Daniel to you.
Daniel is a young photography student aged 16 and living in Fife, Scotland who has proved to have an exceptional aptitude for capturing fabulous and creative images with Scottish flare.
His ultimate aim is to make a living as a freelance travel photographer. Although the course he is enrolled on is currently free to Scottish residents, he will need a good amount of money to enable him to buy/rent the equipment he needs to create the images the way he wants to, and to cover the travel and accommodation costs incurred during his shoots. Daniel currently does not have his own camera (something we hope to remedy) and is borrowing one from a friend.
Daniel has been home-educated for the last 16 years, he expressed an interest in photography and applied for the level 4 basic certificate at the local college as soon as he turned 16. As a home-ed student, he did not follow the traditional curriculum and did not go in for exams: preferring instead to build up a portfolio of his work through the years. He attended an initial interview at college and was told he might struggle to gain entry onto the course without qualifications as the faculty were unable to assess his academic attainment level without them. Undeterred, Daniel enrolled on The Prince's Trust employability course: a 12-week intensive course with a level 4 qualification at the end. Halfway through this course, he was approached by the tutor to submit a portfolio of his own images along with his official application and as a result, was asked back for another interview whereupon he was invited to enrol on the level 6 Advanced Photography course! The tutor was so impressed by the photographs he'd submitted and his application, she had no hesitation about offering him a place whilst informing Daniel that he showed a natural talent for the subject.
Most of the students who have been studying the subject for the last 2 years already have a camera etc and so Daniel wanted to create some quality products to sell using his own images to help fund his studies and set him on the path to becoming a successful freelancer.
So, here's where you can help:
Daniel needs funds to set up an independent online shop selling products featuring his images. He needs to pay for travel and accommodation when going on location shoots and to pay for the rent of essential equipment. Many of the e-commerce websites he has looked at charge an annual or monthly fee for hosting, and to make sustainable, affordable quality products fit for retail most design companies require the client to make a minimum order of £200 before they will proceed with the manufacture of their products. Print-on-demand companies would be easier but they are infinitely more expensive to produce and therefore more expensive to sell. It's quite the catch-22!
He is 16 and very keen to succeed and support himself and his future business. Your kind donations would help him on the way to achieving his goals. *He aims to plant a tree in Scotland's rewilding program for every order placed, and will be offering this add-on option to all of his customers too!
This kid has shown such fortitude, ambition, and resilience over the last few years when, as a family, we have faced very difficult times. It's now his time to shine!
Thank you, Claire & Dan
Sorry its not much. Hope it helps. Xx
